Doctors advise against using famvir if you are allergic to any ingredient in it or if you have conditions like intolerance to glucose or lactase deficiency.

If you are expecting a child or are planning to have a child in the near future, then consult your doctor before using famvir to discuss any possible threats to the unborn baby.
If you are a nursing mother and breast feed your baby, then too, seek consultation before using famvir as some drugs are excreted in the breast milk and may enter the baby.
Warnings/Precautions
Do NOT use Famvir if:
you are allergic to any ingredient in Famvir or to penciclovir
you have galactose intolerance, severe lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose absorption problems
Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.
Some medical conditions may interact with Famvir . Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
if you have kidney problems
