Drug Uses

Levlen is a hormonally based form of birth control that works by preventing ovulation, altering the cervical mucus, and changing the lining of the uterus.

Usage

Levlen must be taken as directed by your doctor. You may take it with or without a meal. Birth control pills like Levlen must be taken with utmost precision in order to maintain their efficiency. So follow dosage instructions carefully. Take the pills in a pack in their regular order.

Missed Dose

You must take the drug everyday for it to be effective. Patients who miss more than three active doses in a row should throw away the pack and start the cycle afresh. Patients who miss three or fewer doses should take a double dose of Levlen for an equal amount of time. This means if three doses were missed, a double dose for three days is required. However, you also have an option of relying on an alternative method of birth control for some time until you are sure about using Levlen.

Storage

Store it at room temperature and keep away from the reach of children.

Overdose

Seek medical attention immediately if you suspect an overdose.

More Information

Levlen may cause dizziness in some people and hence it is recommended that you do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it. Do not take it with alcohol. Discuss with your doctor your medical history in detail before taking Levlen.
